élan has a long standing relationship with Barclays which has involved supporting the company’s senior management around the globe.
"We have worked with élan for over five years. They were asked to design a three hour workshop that would train Barclays' value leaders to then train all 140,000 staff globally. Not only did élan design a brilliant and effective programme, they then trained the value leaders in numerous locations globally. On the back of this work, élan worked predominantly in Africa and coached the executive, led a lot of the work to transform the culture (merger between ABSA and Barclays). I think élan and in particular Ian are facilitators like no other. Ian meets the room and then moves them to places they would never have thought they could go to. This work has a deep impact for the individual, but more importantly for the organisation. I have often told Ian (and believe) he could work to solve world peace. He is brilliant. A delight to work with. I would not hesitate to ask élan to work on the most difficult facilitation’s or advise on a way forward when working with a dysfunctional team." Olivia Jamison - Head of Culture at Barclays Global
élan were originally brought in to support the bank’s desire to return to their original, core founding principles based on Quaker philosophies. élan ran a series of Purpose, Values and Behaviours programmes to facilitate this, and then designed the scheme that would deploy these new ideals across the company. Across the world, élan trained the Barclays' Values facilitators who would lead workshops for the bank’s employees, enabling the Purpose, Values and Behaviours that had been identified in the programme to be cascaded throughout the entire organisation. In addition to this, élan designed Barclay’s “Effective Team Working Programme”, and has coached the executives of Barclay’s banking operations in Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, Mauritius, Zambia and Egypt. élan continues to deliver programmes to Barclays and provide on-going support through their services.

élan supported Noorbank, one of the UAE’s premier contemporary Shari’a compliant banks, through a journey to identify their Purpose, Values and Behaviours.
élan provided their expertise to the management team to help the bank align their vision, mission and purpose inside a set of values that would enable the organisation’s staff to more easily adhere to the bank’s purpose and values in their day-to-day business. Over the course of the project, élan held 32 focus group discussions with senior leaders across the business; facilitated a process that enabled 450 employees across the organisation to help shape the Vision, Mission, Purpose and Values; and captured 495 stories to analyse and determine what Noorbank is all about: all to enable the creation of a singular shared Purpose and Vision that will guide the bank to its ultimate aims. Once this had been created, élan trained internal facilitators to lead workshops that would enable the new Purpose and Vision to be cascaded throughout the entire organisation.

élan worked with Amazon Europe to support their employees in their career growth
élan worked with Amazon team members who were in new or transitioning roles which involved upscaling their responsibilities. élan designed a programme that supported individuals in these sometimes challenging new roles, helping them navigate the journey within an Amazon environment, where things are done very differently. Amazon’s core leadership principles were kept at the heart of élan’s training work, enabling the company philosophy to be facilitated by the employees in their new managerial roles. élan’s work for Amazon took the form of both one-on-one coaching, coaching to large audiences, and team engagement workshops.

Strategic engagement seminars and vision building programmes in a purpose built Agora for one of Africa’s largest diversified financial services groups
élan worked with ABSA’s executive team to deliver strategic engagement seminars and vision building exercises, held within a purpose built Agora (a public open space) which élan created within the ABSA towers. The senior managers of all the departments from finance, marketing to HR and legal came to the Agora with their teams to deliver the strategic, management and team building events, with élan's support. élan worked with ABSA with this approach for three years, not only to embed a common purpose but also to facilitate meaningful conversations between the team members that impact the bottom line.

élan improved efficiencies and collaboration between teams at Fremantle Media, the global creative powerhouse
élan worked with the senior executives at Fremantle Media to improve the efficiencies of Fremantle’s global operations by shifting employee mindsets. Fremantle’s global operations meant the branded shows were being filmed in multiple continents, with separate teams for each production despite overall production brands being the same. Each team would have a show 'bible' with instructions on how to deliver the production. élan supported Fremantle to improve efficiency by creating a structure that would enable the individual teams to talk to their counterparts in other countries, to share ideas, best practice, new developments, pitfalls to watch out for or processes that were detailed in the 'bible' but wholly unnecessary. élan helped the teams change their cultural attitudes to create a real sense of sharing, aligned to the greater company vision, rather than each team being an island on their own. Although each country is responsible for their own profit and loss, the new approach to sharing ideas between teams supported the bottom line across the whole global operation. élan created a contact and influenced them to consider each other as best friends and places of support, rather than competitors to one another.
